While the football season is fast approaching, the committee has been busy in the off season planning for 2014 and it looks to be another good year.

We will again be running our regular Auskick program, and junior teams being the Yr4, Yr5, and Yr6&7 Hills Football competition. In addition to our Sunday Hills competition we will be nominating a girls team, they will be playing clubs such as Swan View, Bassendean, Lesmurdie, Aveley and possibly High Wycombe. If you know of any girls that want to play pass my details on and tell them about registration day.

For Auskick we will continue to work with the other Hills clubs to give the young players more of an opportunity to play interclub games. The possibility of having a Auskick Hills Gala day, still working on those details so stay tuned. Other exciting news is the WAFC have adjusted the rules for Yr.7 thus allowing league competitions. The rule changes are not significant but will bring them more in line with what the players see the AFL players do thus taking out some of the confusion for the player.

A year 7 competition enables the teams to officially keep score and play for points and positions in the finals – Who will be playing in the 2014 Hills Junior Grand final? I am hoping Mundaring will be there but who will they be playing Gidge, Chidlow, Mt Helena, Darlington or Parky? We still have a few details to sort out but it is looking good.

Another rule change that has occurred is for the year 4 & 5’s being allowed to apply a full tackle, when reading and thinking about this parents don’t get scared or worried about your kid with this rule change as a club we think it will benefit the kids more to be able to tackle correctly thus why the club will be doing a few sessions on how to tackle the right way.

We are also looking at expanding the skills sessions; the Kicking sessions run last year were very successful, so we are hoping to expand on this. We are also looking at running sessions within the schools early this year. Our registration day is being held on Sunday, 23rd February from 9am to 12pm at Mundaring Recreation Ground. If anyone has any queries or you can’t attend registration day you can contact either myself on 0439850509 or our registrar Lisa Walter on 0427583363.

For your convenience we have included the Registration, Parent/Player Code of Conduct, Foothills Denture Clinic (mouthgaurd) and Photographic forms which must be completed and returned on registration day. We again have the use of the Eftpos machine for payments if you wish. Also we are registered with the government for the Kidsport program.

Positions Vacant

As with any organisation the success depends on the number of volunteers that put their hand up to help. As for every year we are asking for help in several areas including coaching/ass coaching, managers, umpires, first aid officer, etc. etc. it’s everything that helps the game run smoothly. If you are unable to commit to a role on the committee then one of the above might be for you. If you are interested in any job around the club don’t hesitate to contact myself or Todd Johnson on 0427197361.

Merchandise

Once again the club have a selection of club apparel, which is available for sizing and ordering on registration day.
